Speak Easy

Privacy Policy

Last updated 18 June 2026
This policy explains what personal data Speak Easy collects, why, and your rights over it. We keep it plain. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@learntospeakeasy.com.
Who we are
Speak Easy is operated by Learn to Speak Easy in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact: hello@learntospeakeasy.com.
What we collect
·
Account: your email address and the display name you choose.
·
Practice: the audio recordings you make, their transcripts, session details (question, length, date), and the AI feedback generated from them.
·
Profile (optional): username, bio, avatar, and whether you make your profile public.
·
Usage: anonymous-by-default product analytics (pages visited, features used) and error diagnostics, to keep the app working and improve it.
·
Payment: if you subscribe, Stripe processes your card. We never see or store card numbers. We keep your Stripe customer reference and subscription status only.
Your recordings
Your practice recordings are personal to you. They are stored privately, accessible only to your account, and used solely to play back and to generate your feedback. We do not use your recordings or transcripts to train AI models, and we never sell them. You can delete any recording, or your whole account, at any time from Settings.
How we use your data
·
To provide the service: serve prompts, save sessions, and produce AI feedback.
·
To bill you and manage your subscription (if you go Pro).
·
To send you essential emails (sign-in codes, billing notices).
·
To keep the app secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
·
With your consent, to understand usage through analytics and to send optional updates.
Legal bases (UK/EU GDPR)
We rely on: performance of our contract with you (running the app and billing); our legitimate interests (security, improving the product); your consent (analytics cookies and any marketing email); and legal obligation (tax and accounting records).
Who processes your data
We share data only with the providers that run the service for us:
·
Supabase: database, file storage, and authentication (hosted in the EU).
·
OpenAI: transcribes your recordings (Whisper). Not used to train their models via the API.
·
Anthropic (Claude): writes the structural feedback on your answer.
·
Stripe: payment processing.
·
Resend: sending transactional email.
·
PostHog and Sentry: product analytics and error tracking.
·
Vercel: hosting the web app.
Some providers process data outside the UK/EU. Where they do, transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account we remove your profile, recordings, transcripts, and feedback, and cancel any subscription. Some records (for example billing) may be retained where the law requires it.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Use Settings, or email hello@learntospeakeasy.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. We use analytics cookies only if you accept them. You can change your choice at any time.
Children
Speak Easy is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy. If we make a significant change we will let you know. The date at the top shows the latest version.
